Somali History

Somalia boasts a rich and ancient history, with evidence of early civilizations dating back thousands of years. The Land of Punt, mentioned in ancient Egyptian texts, is believed to be located in present-day Somalia.

Throughout the medieval and early modern periods, Somalia thrived as a center of trade and commerce, with various kingdoms and sultanates flourishing along its coast.

The Ajuran Sultanate, the Geledi Sultanate, and the Warsangali Sultanate are some notable examples. However, the late 19th and early 20th centuries saw European colonization, leading to the creation of British Somaliland, Italian Somaliland, and French Somaliland.

Somalia gained independence in 1960, but the decades that followed were marked by political instability and civil war.

Despite the challenges, Somalia continues to strive for development, and companies like Carshi Holding Company play a crucial role in contributing to the country’s economic and social well-being.
